Music and Lyrics was released in the cinemas on February 14, 2007. It was meant to be a romantic comedy film that couples could go watch during Valentine's day. Hugh Grant plays an 80s currently down on his luck pop star, Alex Fletcher and Drew Barrymore plays his romantic interest, a former English literature university major who has a niche for writing lyrics, Sophie Fisher.

Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore both actually sing in Music and Lyrics. I have to say they are both wonderful singers. And they both played their parts in Music and Lyrics with remarkable finess and truly believable characters on screen. This movie comes highly recommend by me as a great feel good movie with fantastic entertainment value.

Stomp The Yard was released in cinemas on January 12, 2007. Stomp The Yard stars Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Darrin Henson, Brian White, Harry Lennix, Valerie Pettiford, Meagan Good and Columbus Short.

Stomp The Yard is essentially a drama centering around dance sequences with a bit of romance thrown into the mix. The movie follows DJ, a 19 year old LA street dancer who bypassed juvenile hall through his enrollment in the Truth University in Atlanta, Georgia. Stomp The Yard depicts DJ's triumphs and adversities on his path to get the girl of his dreams and to bring his campus fraternities into winning the national step show competition.

88 Minutes stars Al Pacino, Leelee Sobieski, Deborah Kara Unger, Benjamin McKenzie and Alicia Witt. 88 Minutes was filmed mainly at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. 88 Minutes main storyline focus on a high profile university professor played by Al Pacino who is also a forensic psychiatrist for the F. B. I. He later receives a death threat stating that he has 88 minutes remaining in his live before his death. The movie then follows Al Pacino as he tries to discover the mastermind behind this grand scheme.

88 Minutes is a great crime thriller! Al Pacino fits his role in the movie like a perfect glove. Movie fans will definitely be glued in their seats anticipating the next twist of events in the plot lines. 88 Minutes comes highly recommended for a fantastic crime thriller with substance.

Babel is a multi award winning film released in cinemas on November 10, 2006. Babel casts multinational movie stars including Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Rinko Kikuchi, Koji Yakusho,Adriana Barraza and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Babel depicts multiple plot lines which took place in the United States, Morocco, Mexico and Japan. These various plot lines are interrelated in Babel by a main sequence of events focusing on the adversities in facing the language barriers of human beings. Due to the lack of understanding and the prudent occurrence of misunderstanding between the characters in Babel, we get to see how the human drama unfolds into a multitude of human emotions.

Babel is a thought provoking movie. Babel highlights real life situations and presents events that can occur in reality. It shows how the lack of understanding is the root of all the problems in the movie.

The story in Arthur and the Invisibles is conveyed through a mixture of live action and computer animation sequences. Arthur and the Invisibles tells an adventure story about 10 year old Arthur and his journey into the world of the Invisibles to find his grandfather's treasure in order to pay off his grandmother's mortgage.

The spirit of perseverance and standing up for oneself is depicted as the main message to viewers as Arthur overcomes hurdles and adversities in order to save both his grandparents' house and the city of the Invisibles. The computer animation in Arthur and the Invisibles has a great flair of artistic styling that is best suited to show the wonderful world of the Invisibles.

Epic Movie was released in theaters and cinemas everywhere on January 26, 2007. Epic Movie is meant to be a comedy movie which spoofs successful epic films of the year 2005 and 2006. Film plots spoofed in Epic Movie includes Harry Potter, The X-Men, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Chronicles of Narnia, Nacho Libre, The Da Vinci Code, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Superman Returns, Snakes on a Plane, Mission Impossible 3, The Fast and the Furious, Click, Star Wars and surprisingly Borat.

With a budget of $20 million, Epic Movie manages to capture the essence of the original epic films and make them hilariously funny. Please be advised that Epic Movie is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, language and some comic violence. If you have seen all or most of the original epic films that Epic Movie spoofs, I highly recommend that you watch Epic Movie and get a couple of good laughs out of it.

Night at the Museum was released in the cinemas on December 22, 2006 and subsequently on DVD on April 24, 2007. I am a sucker when it comes to comedy movies and those starring Ben Stiller and Robin Williams are always on my "Must Watch" list of movies.

Night at the Museum was released as a Christmas movie where families can gather and watch it together during the holiday season. The movie follows Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) as he took up the job as a night watcher at the Museum of Natural History.

A seemingly mundane job turned upside down when things sprung to life during night time at the Museum of Natural History. There are a lot of antics and action sequences involving clever use of CGI in the movie.

I highly recommend this movie for all to see (if you have not done so) as it is a great "feel good" movie.

The movie is set in the year 1981 in San Francisco, where we see Chris (Will Smith) still living together with his wife Linda (Thandie Newton) and their 5 year old toddler son Christopher (Jaden Smith). Things turned for the worse when Linda decided to leave Gardner taking 5 year old Christopher with her.

Throughout the movie, we see how Gardner struggled through his financial hardships and homelessness while taking care of his son. The spirit of perseverance and never giving up on pursuing your dreams are portrayed beautifully in The Pursuit of Happyness. I highly recommend this movie for all to remind us of our own life struggles and dreams will come true if we do our best and never give up on them.

Letters from Iwo Jima is one of two movies directed by Clint Eastwood which highlights the Battle of Iwo Jima. Letters from Iwo Jima tells the story from the Japanese point of view while Flags of Our Fathers highlights the viewpoint of the Americans.

Letters from Iwo Jima is almost entirely in Japanese with English subtitles. The movie starts off a few days before the American landing on Iwo Jima island. It showed the Japanese with their last minute battle preparations and follows General Kuribayashi who had just arrived on Iwo Jima to take charge of the Japanese army there.

Letters from Iwo Jima is a good movie to watch when you like some historical facts in your entertainment or if you are a war movie buff. It has action sequences during the battles and some drama showing the struggles of the Japanese army.

The Fountain stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. This is a very hard movie to classify. It has elements of science fiction, drama and fantasy all mixed up in telling the story of a man, spanning three time periods, trying to reach the secret of immortality.

With a budget of $35 million, The Fountain contains great visual effects especially during scenes involving the ecospheric spacecraft which contained the Tree of Life.

It could be quite hard to comprehend the story as The Fountain is portrayed in three interweaving narratives which stretch from 16th century Spain to the modern day to deep space in the 26th century.

I have to admit that you need to think a bit to have a grasp of what's happening in The Fountain. It is a good movie to watch when you desire a breath of fresh air in your normal movie genre lineups.

I have to say that this movie took me by surprise. I was expecting some sort of criminal murder mystery but Perfume: Story of a Murderer turned out to be a pleasant shocker.

The story takes place in 18th century Paris, following the life of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille since his birth to his untimely death. Grenouille was gifted with an extraordinary sense of smell. Driven by his desire to experience all the succulent scents the world has to offer, Grenouille desperately tried to free himself from the life of slavery.


Through the coincidental turn of events, Grenouille became the apprentice of Giuseppe Baldini, a down on his luck old perfumer who has long pasted his days of glory. There, Grenouille honed his skills as a perfumer and moved forward towards his goal: to preserve the scents of all things.

There are dramatic plot twists and turns throughout the movie. Perfume: Story of a Murderer is rated R for for aberrant behavior involving nudity, violence, sexuality, and disturbing images. Alas, there are some scenes that requires a strong stomach to endure.

Everyone's Hero is a warm movie for the whole family. It tells the story of a boy, Yankee Irving as he made his thousand mile journey to return a stolen bat to its owner, Babe Ruth. It is a story about doing the right thing and overcoming all odds through perseverance. It is the last movie directed by Christopher Reeve.




The animation style used is ideal to convey the setting of the story which definitely will appeal to children.

I got one of my tooth split in 2 while chewing on one of my ma's pastries two days ago. Both parts of the tooth were still held in place by my gums but now I can only chew on one side of my mouth. I braced myself and decided to pay a visit to the dentistry department of the local polyclinic. Here is the chronological sequence of the trip:

8:15 AM - Arrived at the Dentistry Department at the General Hospital only to be diverted to the polyclinic for treatment.

8:35 AM - Arrived at the Dentistry Department of the polyclinic. The place was very crowded already.


From the photo you can see that almost all the seats at the waiting hall were occupied.






8: 40 AM - Managed to get myself registered at the registration counter.

9:15 AM - Got tired of just sitting and waiting so decided to take some photos of the place.


The water mineral pot was suppose to provide drinking water to waiting patients but too bad it was never filled with water.








Motivational posters and the yearly slogans for the department were hug around the hall for all to see.

10:25 AM - Finally got called in. Greeted the dentist who recognized me at first sight as I have been her patient for over a year already. She told me to sit in the inspection chair. After briefly examining my tooth she asked me whether I still want to keep it(my tooth) or not. I told her to advise me what to do. She told me she will remove the minor part that has split apart and gave me 2 tranquilizer shots. I was told to wait outside again.

10:50 AM - Got called back in. The dentist swiftly removed the split part of the tooth and gave me some bandages to bite on. While instructing her assistants to prepare the mixture for my temporary filling I got a chance to ask her a few questions. I asked her about whether or not I should get a bridge tooth( a false tooth put in place supported by the two neighboring teeth) and she told me it was better to keep the original tooth if the option was still viable. She added that I should not chew on the part of my mouth that she treated today.

I told her both sides of my teeth also had RCT(root canal treatment) done. So basically I cannot chew hard at all. She smiled and told me she has the same problem too. After patching my tooth up with temporary filling she told me to come again on the 15 of May 2007 11AM for the crowning procedure. The crowning procedure is to place a reinforced cap on top of the old tooth(like placing a crown on the head) as so to strengthen its structure.

300 has everything to make a great action film: lots of violence and gore, topless women, suggestive sexual themes and did I mention over exaggeration of historical retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae.
300 is based on the graphic novel series by Frank Miller. I have to say that the CGI effects are well done in 300 and the slow motion effects during battle scenes clearly highlight the spectacular choreographed action sequences.

Be advised that the film is rated R for battle sequences throughout the movie with some nudity and sexuality. But for those who are old enough to watch and are action movie buffs, this is one movie you should not miss out on.
