It has been a quite a while since I last ordered anything from Playasia as I find that their shipping calculation is a bit dodgy and not transparent to the customer. Despite that, they do have several interesting items at bargain prices so it kind of balance out the delivery charges in the end. Well after 3 weeks of waiting time, my delivery parcel has finally arrived. Here is an overview of the delivery box:

Next up is the SR (Super Real) Drossel Gashapon packed in bubble wrap to minimize space requirement during shipping. Usually SR Drossel Gashapon is contained in a plastic capsule. That is why Gashapon = capsule toy.

I bought a Jade Bracelet or Jade Bangle on ebay from a China seller. I thought I got it at a bargain but upon research it was actually selling on average price. Well after over 4 weeks of waiting, my delivery parcel has finally arrived from China. here is an overview of the delivery parcel.

After cutting the seal tapes, the delivery block actually consists of two styro foam blocks sandwiching the Jade bracelet in between.

It is becoming a rarity for me to order anything from Playasia due to their expensive shipping tabulations based on your order total amount and weight. O what happened to the good old days when shipping was free for orders over $20USD. Anyway after 4 weeks of waiting my delivery parcel has finally arrived. Here is an overview.

That corner is squashed and knowing the flimsy packing box that Playasia uses there is a good chance for the content to be damaged as well.

I was doing my round of weekly groceries shopping during the weekend and something caught my attention: selected indoor water fountains were at 50% off! Some of you might have remember that I got an Illuminated Tranquility Fountain previously from the same hypermarket. After carefully scrutinizing all the available choices, I finally picked a water fountain with a revolving crystal ball and LED lighting. Here is an overview of my new Feng Shui Crystal Ball Water Fountain.

Upon close inspection there are some defects found on the Brown Jadeite Beads Bracelet. Some of the beads suffered from depression damage.

There is even a crack on one of the beads as seen in the following image.

Here is another close up view of the crack.

I contacted the seller about the defects/damaged items and luckily I got a full refund provided that I agree to give him a positive feedback for the transaction. In the end I got what I wanted and the seller got what he wanted too. But this is far from being a good delivery review.

Ah yes, my long awaited Jade Mystic Knot has finally arrived after nearly 2 months of waiting. This has got to be the longest delay in delivery that I have ever experienced. Previously, the longest delivery time frame for items originating from China was nearly 4 weeks. This particular delivery too slightly more than 7 weeks to arrive. It might not be obvious at first but these Sennheiser Street CX55 Earphones are high quality replicas. The two obvious signs are

1. There is no steel rod reinforcing the pivot point on the included clip (the genuine product comes with steel rod reinforcement)

2. The splitter on the fake is shaped rectangularly where as the splitter on a genuine Sennheiser Street CX55 Earphone is shaped like a "Y".

There have been several buyers who filed complaints regarding this product with Dealextreme with reports of partial reimbursement. Hopefully Dealextreme's customer service department will be able to sort this out for my cousin as well.

The scroll ball button on my old phone was getting faulty and I thought it was time for a new phone. I wasn't about to jump on-board the Apple bandwagon like most people and get an iPhone as I am more inclined towards an android powered smart phone. I chose the HTC Desire Z for its QWERTY keyboard and here is an overview of its packaging box.

The HTC Desire Z has a snug fit packaging just like most high end phones out in the market currently.

The data cable, power charger, headphones and manual are located at the bottom of the packaging box.

Here is an interesting notice printed on the packaging screen protector of the HTC Desire Z. "Please remove the device from your pants pocket before sitting down."

The swivel out QWERTY keypad of the HTC Desire Z.

The swivel out mechanism of the QWERTY keypad feels rather flimsy and fragile and this is the main reason why most will not pick up the HTC Desire Z. In my personal experience, every phone should be handled with care and they will serve their purpose for a substantial time duration. Pertaining to the hinge design of the HTC Desire Z, the company even released a statement explaining it was a design choice not a flaw and the hinge has been stringently tested for durability

I have been using the HTC Desire Z for over 3 months now and I must say it is quite a versatile smart phone. As with all android devices, the rule of thumb is not to install apps that you will not use frequently so it wont bog down the performance of the device. In terms of size though, the HTC Desire Z is on the bulkier side due to the addition of a QWERTY keypad but it is still quite pocket-able even when wearing jeans. I plan on getting a protective case for the HTC Desire Z and hopefully that wont add too much bulk to it.

I always opt for SAL shipping being the most economical but Amiami's shipping quote is still rather expensive. I found the perfect shoes for my hiking sessions: cheap and durable whole rubber shoes! The brand is called Bowling which is slightly misleading as I don't think these shoes are bowling (the sport) shoes. Popularly known as Adidas 'kampung' shoes locally, it literally means Adidas village shoes. Sounds strange at first but if you think about how it slightly resembles the design of the big "A" and how these shoes are tough enough to traverse the rough tropical jungle terrains, calling it Adidas village shoes is pretty palpable. I think this is the second Jade Gourd Pendant that I bought on ebay. From experience, I have come to know that most sellers in Hong Kong and China get their goods from the same supplier and most of them use the same packing methods for delivery. Of all my deliveries some do get lost in limbo (never reached me) and most of the time the sellers are helpful and willing to resend or refund. I got these Jade Beads Bracelets from a new seller on ebay. The strange thing about this is that when I was trying to leave feedback the seller is no longer registered on ebay. Talk about weird. Does that mean the items he sold me have issues? Well after waiting for almost 4 weeks, here is an overview of the delivery parcel. Notice how a CN22 is tied to the parcel using a string.

I was surprised to find another customs declaration form, CN22 affixed to the parcel.

Now here is another surprise: the parcel is actually 2 blocks of Styrofoam wrapped with brown tape. Now that is creative and hopefully a safe way to deliver fragile Jade Beads Bracelets.

After 'opening' the Styrofoam block, I am amazed at how well my Jade Beads Bracelets are insulated within.

To be honest, I am really glad that my moderately large order of figmas arrived in good condition. Each and every figma in this order is quite popular especially figma Black Rock Shooter and figma Mio Akiyama. figma Ritsu Tainaka is a bit pricier than the rest due to the included drum set but her character lacks the popularity of the other K-On girls so setting her selling price higher might not be a good idea for GSC and Max Factory.

If I have to pick one figma from this batch it would have to be figma Black Rock Shooter. It is a SP (special release) and it comes with the DVD of the Black Rock Shooter OVA (Original Video Animation) too.

I think this must be a depression damage but then again, it requires much force to inflict such damage onto jade.

Perhaps this is a manufacturing defect.

A defect is still a defect. I will contact the seller about this and hopefully get a refund for this.

It is good to have friends in Japan. Too bad for me I do not so I had to pay extra for a proxy service to purchase my Fraulein Revoltech Yoko Movie Version from Amazon Japan. After nearly 4 weeks of waiting, my parcel finally arrived.

The parcel arrived in acceptable condition with no major damage.

Only slight squashing damage sustained, luckily.

Open box reveals that the seller used bubble wrap to buffer the item inside the parcel box.

Parcel box and Fraulein Revoltech Yoko Movie Version (in bubble wrap) side by side comparison. A rather snug fit to say the least.

After removing the bubble wrap, the Fraulein Revoltech Yoko Movie Version is wrapped in a thin wrapping paper. Personally I don't see any point in using such flimsy and fragile material to wrap the item with.

I have been eying the Macross Frontier VF-27 Lucifer Valkyrie Brera Sterne Custom Model Kit on HLJ for quite sometime now (a couple of months to be more precise) because it was on sale at 40% off. Truth to be told, I couldn't bring myself to buy it previously because of the hefty shipping cost. So when HLJ had another "Pay with Paypal get free shipping" promotion I quickly hit the "Buy This" button on the Macross Frontier VF-27 Lucifer Valkyrie Brera Sterne Custom Model Kit together with a couple of Tamiya Acrylic Mini hobby paints. This is also my first time buying hobby paints as previously I only used markers to paint my models. The order took less than a week to arrive because HLJ used EMS shipping but the con is that I was required to deal with custom officers face to face in their own office space. Without any further ado, here is an overview of the shipping box.

As previously mentioned, HLJ uses the most sturdy shipping boxes and secure packing methods compared to the rest of the online Anime stores. Here is a closeup on the EMS shipping label.

Open box view reveals the use of custom made air bubble cushions used as buffer material. In case any of you are wondering, that piece of paper is the invoice for this order.

After removing all the buffer material and hobby paints here is how the Macross Frontier VF-27 Lucifer Valkyrie Brera Sterne Custom Model Kit was packed snugly at the bottom of the shipping box.

Each Tamiya Acrylic Mini hobby paint bottle is wrapped with bubble wrap to prevent leaks and breakage during transport. The White color paint is individually wrapped.

The Black color and Thinner are packed together though.

Greetings friends, today I will be reviewing my recent delivery of limited edition Robot Damashii collectible action figures from Japan. It is a sad note that Terrible Analogies took off the blogroll entry for My Love For Life Review. Well onwards to the review. To be honest, I was ordering most of the Robot Damashii figures for a friend but he decided to break his promise and leave me stranded with his orders. Thanks for teaching me a very valuable lesson in life Thaddeus Chong Min Yi: never ever place an order for someone without getting an initial non refundable deposit first. Anyway here is an overview of the delivery box. As you can see, it is sent via EMS shipping which is more expensive but faster. I personally will always go for SAL shipping but the seller only uses EMS.

From this angle, looks like EMS shipping also incur moderate wear and tear to your deliveries.

Apart from being stood up by my friend where these limited Robot Damashii figures are for initially, I have to say the delivery is rather good with no major damage. I ordered a few collectibles from Amazon via a proxy seller in Japan and this business of ordering via proxy is definitely going to cost more. Since Amazon Japan does not deliver internationally, proxy service is currently the only viable method for buyers outside of Japan. That is unless you have friends or family staying in Japan. Well after more than 3 weeks of waiting, my order has finally arrived. Here is an overview of the delivery.

I have always been fascinated by 3D printers. You can create your products on the PC and materialize it on a 3D printer. When I came across a sample request page of a 3D printer manufacturer, I quickly requested one to have a closer look for myself. After waiting for more than 4 weeks, my sample delivery has finally arrived from the US. Here is an overview of the delivery parcel. This is the first time I receive a cylindrical parcel.

I think I kind of went overboard by getting multiples of SEGA Hatsune Miku Premium Prize Figure. In total, now I got 3 of them. Anyway, my delivery this time is from Hong Kong and delivery time is slightly over 3 weeks. Here is an overview of the moderately sized delivery box.

The delivery box is a customized box than has been re-sized from a larger one.

Don't you just hate it when everything increase in price but your earnings/salary remain the same. I grew tired with my old key chain which came with my car. Sure it is functional but it is a round piece of plastic with the details of the car dealer. I wanted something that would give a boost to my luck. After browsing through ebay and sorting the results ascendingly from the lowest priced items to the most expensive, I have decided to get not 1 but 2 keychains. Each started with the initial bid price of USD0.99 and with free shipping, which suits a cheapskate like me just fine. You will have to read the rest of the post to find out how much I ended up paying for them though.

Here is the delivery envelope which arrived after 2 weeks from posting.

The first is actually a compass key chain. The compass is functional but I do notice a slight discoloring on the gold paint on the sides of the compass though.

The second is my metal dragon key chain. This is the one I will be using to (hopefully) boost my luck. Wish me luck finding my other half soon guys!

Here comes my delivery review of one of the classic revoltech releases from the Detroit Metal City series. I got the postal notice after 3 weeks of waiting for my order to arrive from Hong Kong. Here is an overview of the delivery box.

After removing the layer of bubble wrap we can see the revoltech box still wrapped with a thin layer of white paper.
Here is how the delivery looks like after taking out all the contents from the delivery box.
Lets take a closer look at the bubble wrap parcel. From this picture we can barely make out what is contained within.
This is the content of the bubble wrap parcel: 2 units of SR Drossel normal version. This is the second time I ordered 2 units of SR Drossel from playasia and they still send out identical versions each time. I seriously hope that they will make some effort to send out different versions if I order more than 1 unit in the future.

I was browsing the classifieds section of my regular forum and came across someone who was selling off some of his collectible figures. He was selling off his Revoltech Fraulein Asahina Mikuru for less than half the original price. It was stated that the condition of the item was rated 8/10 so without asking for actual pictures of the Revoltech Fraulein Asahina Mikuru I confirmed my purchase with the seller. My first mistake there. Well the seller sent me a shipping notification and after 20 days I was anxious to find out why my item has not reached me yet.

So off I went to the post office only to find out that the seller has used surface/seal mail to deliver my item. I was told that ETA was over a month. Sure enough, after waiting for over 5 weeks I finally got the postal collection notice. Honestly speaking, I wasn't pleased at all when I got my hands on the package. After unwrapping the outer layer of brown paper, this is how the parcel looks like.

The seller had used a McVities Digestives box as the delivery box. This kind of box offers no added structural firmness to prevent squashing damage and thus the horrible condition of the parcel.

Upon emptying the contents I found 3 pieces of crumpled miscellaneous promo brochures as buffer material.

This is one of those bad experiences of getting a poorly packed delivery. There is nothing much I can do about it now but to salvage what I got on hand and hope that the actual Revoltech Fraulein Asahina Mikuru is in "acceptable" condition.

It has been a while since I last ordered anything from HLJ. To be honest, I only order from HLJ if they have something that interest me in their clearance section AND they offer free/discounted shipping. But lately, it has become quite a hassle dealing with customs when using EMS so now SAL is my only preferred shipping method. For this delivery, HLJ charged shipping at 70% discount no matter what kind of shipping method. I choose SAL of course to avoid the hassle of dealing with customs. Here is an overview of my delivery box.

HLJ's packing box is quite sturdy and durable compared to other international sellers which I have experienced before.

It is time for another round of delivery review, this time focusing on Robot Damashii and Kotobukiya model kits. This delivery came from Amiami Japan and they always managed to surprise me in a not so pleasant way in the amount they charge for shipping. That will teach me to think twice before ordering anything from them again, unless they change the way they charge for shipping. After placing my order, it took them over 1 week to finally ship my items out even though they were in stock. It took over 4 weeks for my delivery to arrive and here is an overview of the delivery box.

Blue, white and red "Handle with care" seal tape. You can almost be sure that the sight of this seal tape indicates that the delivery is from Amiami as so far they are the only one using it.
