Ikea Tertial Work Lamp Review
This is the first My Love For Life Household Review. I will be focusing on the Ikea Tertial Work Lamp. I had to ask for assistance from my sis to buy this Tertial for me as the city where I live does not have any Ikea outlet which is just disappointing. The main purpose that I got this Tertial is to provide adequate lighting when photo shooting macro shots for My Love For Life Gundam Reviews which hopefully will extend to my other collectibles as well like my Figmas which I have yet to start reviewing. The Tertial comes with some assembly required. The following photo shows an overview of the Tertial package.
This is the head of the Tertial which attaches to the main arm via a twist and lock mechanism.
This smaller package contains the latching base of the Tertial as well as a couple of metal springs which need to be latched on the main arm later on.
This is the main arm of the Tertial. Lucky for me, everything here comes assembled including the cables and electric power plug. It is folded up to be compact for easier packing and handling.
This is the included Tertial assembly guide sheet. Its basically printed in black on a piece of paper which is more than enough to detail the required minor assembly processes for the Tertial.
Every step is shown clearly only through pictures without any written guidelines whatsoever. It is pretty straight forward to follow.
The first step is to latch on the mounting base of the Tertial. The base is made out of plastic and metal and is latched on the foundation via a tightening screw mechanism which is designed to be twisted using a bare hand. I have securely latched mine on the left side of my table.
The second step is to fasten the main arm of the Tertial into the mounting base. This is a simple step as you only need to insert the cylindrical metal rod at the base of the main arm into the hole located on the mounting base.
The third step is to latch the two springs from the previous smaller package onto the middle connector joint of the Tertial's main arm. The simple method of doing this is to latch one end of the spring first then slowly pull the other end of the spring and latch it onto the other pivot joint.
The fourth and last step in the Tertial assembly sheet is to fasten the head onto the main arm of the Tertial. This is easily accomplished by aligning the 3 mounting crevasses found on the head part with the corresponding protruding pivot points found on the main arm by pushing them together and locking them securely by a twisting motion.
Now that my Tertial is fully assembled, all that is left to do is to install a light source to try it out. I have chosen a modern energy saving fluorescent light bulb rated at 20W. The Tertial takes in any standard E26 light bulb max rating at 60W which is the screw type.
The moment of truth: time to switch the Tertial on! Yay! Its working great!
I am a proud owner of the Ikea Tertial Work Lamp. The Tertial's arm is very well designed to be as flexible as possible making it very easy to position the light in whichever way I want. I love how the Tertial's main body is constructed using metal. I have had a similarly designed non Ikea work lamp where the joints are made out of plastic and they broke off a few months later! Kudos to Ikea and its superb design team who produce useful and reliable items which are long lasting and durable too.
I think I'll be requesting for assistance from my sis again to get me another Tertial Work Lamp! My Love For Life Household review rating for Ikea Tertial Work Lamp: 5/5

Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li Movie Review
At first, I thought that watching Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li(thereafter referred to as TLOCL) with my boo was a bad idea because its a live-action movie based on the Street Fighter video game series. But surprisingly TLOCI turned out to be rather watchable despite receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews from the general public. Here is My Love For Life movie review of Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li.
On Thursday evening I had a somewhat important decision to make concerning which movie to watch first: TLOCL or Angels And Demons? Since my boo had no preference either way, I went with TLOCL because I wanted to get over the bad before commencing with the good (bad: TLOCL, good: Angels And Demons, based on box office ranking and performance). TLOCI stars Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li and follows her life since childhood. It shows the audience how Chun-Li has grown up to become the beautiful and skillful martial arts master through the life changing series of circumstances which were placed upon her.
Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li Movie Trailer
In TLOCI, there are several scenes showing the exotic locations in Bangkok, Thailand and Hong Kong, China. They are good eye candies for TLOCI and compliment the story well. As for the fight scenes, they are done in an adequate manner, nothing spectacular or note worthy. But one corny aspect of the fight scenes is the ultimate move or finishing move which is the classic fireball attack. Did someone say Dragonball I hear?
Behind The Scenes of Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li
TLOCI is a watchable action movie. If you are a fan of Kristin Kreuk then you might love this movie. If you are a fan of the video game then you might have lots to complain about the movie and how it deviates from the video game series. But if you are just looking for a movie to watch I would still recommend TLOCI.
My Love For Life movie review rating for Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li: 3.5/5

Equilibrium Movie Review
I had another double dose of straight movie watching with my cousin on Saturday afternoon. The first movie that we watched is actually recommended by my sister which is a 2002 sci-fi action movie, Equilibrium. To tell you the truth I have never heard of Equilibrium before this and was quite surprised by the fact that Christian Bale, the current Batman plays the protagonist.
Equilibrium is set in a futuristic dystopian(vision of a society in which conditions of life are miserable and characterized by poverty, oppression, war, violence, disease, pollution, and/or the abridgement of human rights, resulting in widespread unhappiness, suffering, and other kinds of pain.~thanks wiki^^) city-state called Libria. In this age and time, mankind has blamed human emotion as the root cause of conflict in the world and thus all citizens of Libria are required to inject themselves with regular dosages of an emotion-suppressing drug called Prozium. The protagonist of Equilibrium, John Preston(Christian Bale) is the highest ranking officer in the elite Grammaton Clerics which is tasked to locate and destroy all emotionally stimulating material(classified as EC-10 for emotional content) and to stop "sense-offenders"- people guilty of feeling emotions.
I have to say that Equilibrium is a very good sci-fi action movie. Christian Bale's portrayal of John Preston is outstanding and the high adrenaline slick gun-fighting martial art (a.k.a. Gun Kata) scenes are just mind blowing! Just check out the trailer below for a sneak peek!
Equilibrium Movie Trailer
I must have been too preoccupied in 2002 to let Equilibrium slip under my radar then. This is now part of my personal DVD collection. I recommend that you check it out for yourself. My Love For Life movie review rating for Equilibrium: 4/5

Nendoroid Shipment Review
I was not planing on getting more nendoroid collectible figures after my first Nendoroid Len Kagamine as I got it at a steal literally. But now I know I seriously need to keep my buying impulses under control as I had bid and won two more nendoroids on ebay: Nendoroid Yako Katsuragi and Nendoroid Misa Amane. These nendoroids are from the same seller whom I bought my Figma Rin and Figma Len from previously which had poor packing. I guess either I haven't learn my lesson yet or the selling price of these nendoroids were just too tempting for me to resist. As for shipping, its EMS all the way from this seller which is a positive as it took 4-5 days for my nendoroids to reach me from Japan. Here is the overview shot of the parcel. At first glance I quickly notice the yellowish stain at the lower left side of the parcel. Lets hope this is not a sign of things to come...
A closeup shot of the stain on the parcel. I think that this is caused by a wet and rusty metal container during transport.
This damaged area looks more serious than the previous one. I hope my nendoroids are still in good condition inside.
Rear overview of the parcel. Again the water damage stain can be seen on the lower right side.
My nendoroids out of the EMS parcel. The seller still refuse to use any hard cardboard padding for extra protection. At least he wrapped my nendoroids with bubble wrap quite meticulously.
Closeup shot of my nendoroids still in bubble wrap.
My nendoroids finally out from the bubble wrap. My Nendoroid Yako Katsuragi (left) fair much worse than my Nendoroid Misa Amane (right). That is because Yako was located at the water damaged area of the parcel.
Rear view of my nendoroids. Minor dents and folds on the boxes cannot be seen in this picture though.
Closeup on the damage done on Nendoroid Yako Katsuragi's box. I think the damage level this time is consider quite mild compared to what happened to my Figma Rin previously.
Will I stop buying from this seller after this? Probably not as now and then I get some items at lower than retail prices with shipping included. My Love For Life Experience Review rating for Nendoroid Shipment: 3/5

Heavy Haze In The City Review
As a follow up to my previous post on Open Burning In Miri Sarawak Malaysia, now I am going to highlight the consequence of that irresponsible act. The city has been engulfed in dense haze for about a week, causing respiratory health hazard risks to sky rocket off the charts. There have been talks about initiating a cloud seeding operation to induce artificial rain but so far no action has been carried out. Luckily there have been a couple of natural light drizzle from above to provide a breath of fresh air (literally) but the haze would return the very next day. Just check out the pics and see the damage done for yourself.
Haze drastically reducing visibility on the road near my work place.
Even the mighty Sun is being hampered by the haze.
View of the dense haze at the open car park area of a prominent hypermarket.
Thick and smoggy haze covering the highway.
I think visibility was down to 30 meters in this pic.
A shot of the long straight highway ahead.
Everything was so smokey.
One needs to drive slowly and carefully under these conditions.
Trees by the roadside shrouded in the haze.
Motorists traveling on motorcycles ought to be wearing face masks.
Electric power tower being surrounded by haze.
Even the forest area near the road were hard to be seen.
A landslide hill area being covered by the haze.
Haze condition at the traffic light junction.
Haze condition in the urban area of the city. Notice the white police patrol car on the left of the picture.
View of the city from the road.
Whenever I was out in the open I made it a point to wear a face mask. Even on weekend mornings I wore my face mask to the market and only took it off to have my breakfast. I could actually smell the smoke each time I took off the face mask which was terrible. People coughing and sneezing were a common sight during these times. Better to just stay home, close all the windows and doors and switch on the air conditioner.
My Love For Life Experience review rating for Heavy Haze In The City: 1/5

Angels & Demons Movie Review
Now here is a movie that I was looking forward to watch. The so called sequel to to The Da Vinci Code: Angels & Demons. The weird part is that this movie is actually based on the novel of the same name by Dan Brown which was published first and takes place chronologically before The Da Vinci Code. Another evident case of alterations done through the premise of novel to movie adaptation. My boo was with me when I saw Angels & Demons and here is my take on the movie.
Tom Hanks is back reprising his role as Robert Langdon, a Symbologist professor at Harvard University. One of the things that I like about Angels & Demons is how it begins by focusing on the initialization of the Large Hadron Collider. This greatly gives a sense of realism to the movie as the Large Hadron Collider has gained considerable attention from the public even influencing pop culture such as Angels & Demons. One of the best way of explaining what the Large Hadron Collider is is via the Large Hadron Rap:
Now back to Angels & Demons, the inclusion of the Large Hadron Collider in the movie adaptation is an alteration from the source novel. Another divergence from the novel is how Ewan McGregor's character, the Camerlengo Patrick McKenna changed from Italian to being Northern Irish to accommodate the Scottish actor. For me these changes do not hinder my enjoyment of the movie but they can cause quite a bit of racket for those that have read the original novel. Angels & Demons can drag on a little too long at times but that is to be expected since it requires more time to unravel the shocking twists and turns found throughout the movie. To sum up the plot, Angels & Demons is about the age old conflict between Science and Christianity.
Angels & Demons Movie Trailer
For those who like the first movie The Da Vinci Code, you will probably like Angels & Demons as well so watch it. For those who are just curious about the movie, I recommend that you watch it too.
My Love For Life Movie Review rating for Angels & Demons: 4/5.

HLJ 2nd Shipment Delivery Review
After more or less 15 days of waiting since its sent date, my 2nd HLJ shipment has finally reached my home. The hard cardboard box appears to be a little beat up but its nothing to complain about though. Same high standards of packing as expected from HLJ with every loose opening from the box sealed with brown tape. The customs declaration label is nicely incorporated with the shipping address label to assist in the customs checking process. Unlike most ebay sellers, HLJ can't and will not help to declare the value of the items lower than the actual price to avoid or reduce import tax. This is due to the fact that they are operating as a registered business company and will get penalized severely if found out.
Left side view of the shipping box with "Handle With Care" prominently displayed. I wonder if the postal workers pay any heed to the warnings labeled on any of the shipping items nowadays. Most probably they will ignore them and just handle the items as how they see fit.
Bottom side view of the shipping box with HLJ's logo and url clearly printed. This side of the box appears to be in the worst condition compared to the other sides. Notice how the right side of the box is a little dented.
Top side view of the shipping box with the same printing design as the bottom side view previously.
Here is a closeup view of the Japan postal stamping on the box.
This is the customs stamping label which states that this box was released from the customs department on 25 June 2009. You can also see "Small Packet" and "SAL" stamping labels in red which show the parcel type and delivery method respectively.
The HLJ shipping box is opened up to reveal... Figma Seto Sun which is stacked on top of another Figma.
My Figma Seto Sun and another one (still obstructed in the pic) out of the shipping box. Notice the clear shrink wrap done to the Figma boxes which comes standard with all items shipped by HLJ. If I am to guess I bet that they included a hard cardboard at the bottom of the shrink wrap for extra protection and to prevent the items from moving around in the box during transit.
Bottom side view of my Figmas. Now you can clearly see my Figma Doala Home Version which is below Figma Seto Sun. Notice too the hard cardboard at the very bottom included for extra protection.
Left side view of my Figmas.
Top side view of my Figmas.
Right side view of my Figmas.
Rear view of the shrink wrap clearly showing the hard cardboard.
Overview of HLJ delivery box and shrink wrap Figmas.
This is the 2nd time I have ordered from HLJ and the great condition of my Figmas upon arrival just gives me more assurance of the high quality of packing standards done by the fantastic people at HLJ. Without a doubt I will definitely be a returning customer of HLJ.
My Love For Life Experience Review of HLJ 2nd Shipment Delivery: 4.5/5
