Perfume: Story of a Murderer Movie Review
I have to say that this movie took me by surprise. I was expecting some sort of criminal murder mystery but Perfume: Story of a Murderer turned out to be a pleasant shocker.
The story takes place in 18th century Paris, following the life of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille since his birth to his untimely death. Grenouille was gifted with an extraordinary sense of smell. Driven by his desire to experience all the succulent scents the world has to offer, Grenouille desperately tried to free himself from the life of slavery.
Through the coincidental turn of events, Grenouille became the apprentice of Giuseppe Baldini, a down on his luck old perfumer who has long pasted his days of glory. There, Grenouille honed his skills as a perfumer and moved forward towards his goal: to preserve the scents of all things.
There are dramatic plot twists and turns throughout the movie. Perfume: Story of a Murderer is rated R for for aberrant behavior involving nudity, violence, sexuality, and disturbing images. Alas, there are some scenes that requires a strong stomach to endure.
